These terms cover the use of MooseChat by whoever signs up for an account. By creating an account you agree to them. MooseChat is operated by Mohammad Yusuf Khan (“MooseChat”, “we”).
The service
MooseChat builds a chat assistant from the pages of your website, the files you upload and the details you confirm, puts it on your website as a widget, answers your visitors from that content, and turns what it can’t answer into a lead that it sends to you. It also gives you the conversations, the questions your bot couldn’t answer, an API, webhooks and an MCP server.
Answers are written by AI
Replies are written by an AI model from your bot’s content. MooseChat is built to answer only from that content, to cite it, and to hand a visitor to you instead of guessing, but a model can still misread a page or get something wrong. You are responsible for your bot’s content and for what it tells your visitors: keep your pages and business details current, and check your conversations. The widget always tells visitors they are talking to an AI assistant. Don’t hide or remove that label.
Your account
You are responsible for what happens under your account, including what your team and, for an agency, your clients do in it. Keep your password and API keys to yourself: a key is shown once and stored as a hash, so a lost key is revoked and replaced, not recovered.
If you’re on the Agency plan and show MooseChat to your clients under your own brand, you’re responsible for giving them your own terms and privacy notice. Their sign-in and sign-up pages link yours, never ours.
You must be an adult able to enter a contract where you live. One person may hold one trial. Sign-ups from disposable email domains are refused.
Your content and your visitors
You keep all rights to your content. You give MooseChat the right to fetch, store and process it, and your visitors’ conversations, only to run the service for you.
You may only point a bot at websites you own or have permission to use. MooseChat’s crawler identifies itself and respects robots.txt.
You are the controller of your visitors’ personal data, and MooseChat processes it only on your behalf, to run the service for you. Agency plan customers can sign a data processing agreement. Tell your visitors about the chat in your own privacy policy; the docs have a paragraph you can adapt.
Acceptable use
Do not use MooseChat to:
- collect passwords, payment card numbers, government identifiers or health records through the chat or the lead form
- deceive visitors, including by presenting the assistant as a person
- give medical, legal or financial advice that visitors would rely on without a professional, or answer for a service aimed at children
- host content that is illegal where you or your visitors are, or that infringes someone else’s rights
- crawl websites you have no permission to use
- probe, overload or work around the rate limits, the bot limits or the plan limits
- resell MooseChat’s model access as a general-purpose AI service
MooseChat may suspend a bot or a workspace that does any of this. Where the harm is not ongoing, you get notice first.
Plans, the trial and limits
The trial lasts 7 days and needs a card. Your card is charged at the end of the trial unless you cancel before then. During the trial you have 100 conversations and one bot. Each plan has a monthly conversation allowance and limits on bots, pages, files and members. The current numbers are on the pricing page and in the dashboard under Usage. A conversation is one visitor thread with at least one AI reply; the dashboard shows which conversations were counted and which weren’t.
Going over the allowance never shows your visitors an error. When the trial’s 100 conversations are used, when a cancelled trial ends, or when a plan’s allowance and a further 10% are used, your widget goes to lead mode: visitors can still leave their details and you still receive them, but the bot stops answering until you start your plan, add conversations, upgrade or the period rolls over.
Billing
Paid plans are billed monthly or yearly in advance through Dodo Payments, the merchant of record. Prices are in the currency shown at checkout and exclude tax unless the checkout says otherwise.
On any paid plan you can add packs of 1,000 conversations a month, at the price on the pricing page. Packs are a separate monthly subscription: more packs start at once and are charged for the rest of the month; fewer take effect at the pack’s next billing date. Packs end with your plan.
Upgrades take effect at once and are prorated. Downgrades take effect at the end of the period. A failed payment starts a seven-day grace period during which everything keeps working; after that the widget goes to lead mode. Nothing is deleted for non-payment.
Cancel any time in the dashboard. The plan runs to the end of the period you paid for. Payments already made are not refunded except where the law requires it.
Termination
You can delete a bot at any time; its content, files and conversations are deleted within 24 hours and can’t be recovered. To delete your account, write to support@getmoosechat.com.
MooseChat may end an account for a breach of these terms, for non-payment beyond the grace period, or where the law requires. Except where the breach is serious or ongoing, you get 30 days to export your leads and conversations.
MooseChat may discontinue the service with 90 days’ notice, during which export keeps working.
Availability
MooseChat aims for 99.9% of visitor messages to get an answer or the lead card, and for 99% of lead emails to be handed to the mail provider within 60 seconds. These are targets, not a contractual service level, and there is no service credit in this version of the terms.
Warranty and liability
MooseChat is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind, to the extent the law allows. Don’t rely on MooseChat as the only record of a lead.
MooseChat’s total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid in the 12 months before the claim arose, and MooseChat is not liable for lost profit, lost business or lost data beyond that. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Changes
These terms can change. The date at the top is when they last did. A material change is announced by email before it takes effect, and continuing to use the account after that is acceptance.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
